[11/10/2023] Introducing the students of Sustainable Development: From Neuroarchitecture to Artificial Intelligence

A frequent question of modern times is how to make the quality of life better - equally good for everyone, balanced with nature and economically sustainable, using the latest technologies. At the University of Montenegro, students of the first doctoral study program in English, Sustainable Development, are dealing with this question. From different spheres of science, through their research, at the recently held international symposium in Kotor, they tried to present potential solutions to the problems they faced in practice.

[05/10/2023] The Second International Doctoral Symposium on Sustainable Development attracted the attention of PhD students in the region

The second international doctoral symposium on sustainable development, organized by the University of Montenegro, was officially opened today at the Maritime Faculty of Kotor. This first symposium of its kind in the Western Balkans again this year aroused great interest and brought together PhD students, mentors and scientists from Montenegro and the region.

[23/06/2023] The University of Montenegro awards scholarships for scientific research abroad

The University of Montenegro organizes research stays for young researchers at renowned higher education, scientific research institutions and highly developed companies that have development and research centers in Europe. The stays are organized within the program to support the development of science and training of personnel at the University of Montenegro, as well as the fulfillment of the goals of the University's Development Strategy.

The study stay will be financially supported by a University scholarship, for a total of 10 applicants.

The 2nd Doctoral Colloquium on Sustainable Development, organized by the University of Montenegro, will be held at the Maritime Faculty of Kotor on October 5 and 6, 2023. The call for this symposium is open to doctoral students from all fields.

[04/04/2023] 1st Session of the Professional Council of the study program Sustainable Development

The session of the Council of the Sustainable Development study program will be organized on Thursday, April 6, starting at 1 p.m. The session will be held in electronic format, through the Zoom application.  

The composition of the Council of the Sustainable Development study program was determined in accordance with the decisions of the Senate and the Board of Directors of the University of Montenegro on the transfer of the above mentioned study program from the Center for Doctoral Studies to the Center for Interdisciplinary and Multidisciplinary Studies. The council consists of five permanent members of the Center's Board, teachers of the University of Montenegro who are engaged in teaching in this study program, as well as three student representatives.

[07/12/2022] PhD students in Sustainable Development, winners of scholarships in the country and abroad

Five students of the first generation of students of the first doctoral program at the University of Montenegro in English, Sustainable Development, are the winners of scholarships for co-financing the tuition fees of the Ministry of Education, thanks to their good results in their studies.

In the Contest for co-financing tuition fees for master's and doctoral studies, the condition for receiving a scholarship from the Ministry of Education, in the amount of up to 1000.00 euros, was an average of 9.00 (for social sciences and humanities), i.e. greater than 8.50 (for other sciences).

Also, three students of this program are winners of the mobility, i.e. exchange program for the University of Reykjavik, Iceland, in the summer semester 2022/2023.

The Center for Doctoral Studies of the University of Montenegro has announced a competition for admission to doctoral studies at the University of Montenegro for the academic year 2022/2023. year, in the II enrollment period.

Applications with appropriate evidence must be submitted to the organizational units of the University of Montenegro on December 19 and 20, 2022, by 2:00 p.m. Applications for the Sustainable Development study program are submitted in the premises of the Rectorate of the University of Montenegro. Candidates whose previous levels of study are in the fields of natural, technical and medical sciences can apply for this study program.

Call for enrollment of 1st generation of the students announced!

The international project Reform of doctoral studies in Montenegro and Albania, an example of good practice - MARDS, resulted in two doctoral programs in two countries, in English, at the University of Montenegro and the University of Shkodra.

With the support of the University of Montenegro, the PhD program "Sustainable Development in Tourism and Economy" was officially opened yesterday at the University of Shkodër "Luigj Gurakuqi", a partner institution of UCG, which successfully completed this project.

Close cooperation between universities and the business sector can lead to the transfer of technologies and the commercialization of innovations, and thus to the development of society, it was concluded at the round table "Academy and Industry", held in the Chamber of Commerce, on October 20, within the project "Reform of Doctoral Studies in Montenegro and Albania - an example of good practice" (MARDS).

[22-23/09/2022]  The 1st doctoral colloquium on Sustainable development, DOC-ME'22

On the 22nd and 23rd  September 2022 “The 1st Doctoral Colloquium on Sustainable Development”, DOC-ME’2022,  has been organised in Montenegro, in Kotor, Maritime Faculty. The main organised was ERASMUS+ MARDS project, 598465-EPP-1-2018-1-ME-EPPKA2-CBHE-SP, funded by EU, more precisely, its EACEA department.  Doctoral Colloquium or Doctoral Symposium is an event aimed in developing and mentoring PhD students. It provides a unique opportunity for Montenegrin, Albanian, Western Balkan and International PhD students to receive in-depth feedback on their (ongoing) research from fellow PhD students, leading academicians and researchers as well as from non-academic sector representatives. Additionally, the Colloquium provides students with a unique opportunity to master the methodology of presenting scientific paper or research proposal toward target groups and stakeholders.

[19-23/07/2022]  6th Consortium Meeting with cross-border dissemination and sustainability

From July 19 to 23, the 6th meeting of the consortium of the project Reform of Doctoral Studies in Montenegro and Albania - Paradigm of Good Practices (MARDS) will be held in Shkodër, which is implemented as part of the Erasmus+ program for capacity building in the field of higher education.

The consortium meeting will be organized at the Faculty of Economics of the "Luigj Gurakuqi" University, which is one of the 16 partners in the project. The participation of all members of the consortium, students, as well as other participants who are interested in the successful implementation of MARDS is expected.

The University of Montenegro will host the first international week for academic and administrative staff "International Staff Week", organized in cooperation with Spanish universities, the University of Jaen and the University of Cadiz, from July 4 to 8, at the UCG Rectorate. These are universities with which UCG has signed bilateral agreements for the exchange of students and staff within the Erasmus+ program.

The first of the events entitled "Erasmus + in the service of green economy and sustainable development - education towards a green Montenegro", organized by the National Erasmus+ office in Montenegro as part of the launched campaign on the priorities of the new cycle of the Erasmus+ program, was held today at the Faculty of Economics. At the panel discussion, moderated by prof. Dr. Saša Popović from the Faculty of Economics, representatives of the professional public, the academic community, the diplomatic corps as well as the EU delegation in Montenegro took part. 

[28/05/2022]  MARDS taken active participation at the fair of EU Projects, organized in Podgorica 

The Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro, in cooperation with the Ministry of European Affairs, organized a Fair of European projects in the courtyard of Petrović Castle in Podgorica.

The event, held as part of the Europe Month celebration, was an opportunity for visitors to learn about projects implemented by institutions, municipalities, companies, universities and the NGO sector, and for discussions with potential partners about invitations expected in the coming period. 

The fair was opened by the President of the Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro, Dr. Nina Drakić, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of European Affairs, Dr. Jovana Marović, and the EU Ambassador to Montenegro, Dr. Oana Cristina Popa.

[01/04/2022]  The MARDS project: On the training of doctoral students in Slovenia for RTCG

On the topic of pioneering doctoral studies in English, Sustainable Development, for the morning program of the National Television, Prof. Dr. Radovan Stojanović and Ph.D. student Maša Jovanović. 

It is the first program of doctoral studies that was created as a result of the Erasmus+ program for capacity building in the field of higher education and the project Reform of doctoral studies in Montenegro and Albania, an example of good practice, under the acronym MARDS.

Local meeting between the University of Montenegro and the University of Donja Gorica was held on Thursday, 10th March 2022 at 14h at the University of Donja Gorica.

We are extremely pleased to inform you that we have officially admitted the first generation of students in MARDS Ph.D. Program “Sustainable Development”. Fifteen brilliant students have the honor of attending the first Ph.D. Program in English in Montenegro opened with the great support of the EU.

The students have already started their work activities, and we have made an appointment, Season working meeting, and introductory lessons, for them and you on 28.12.2021. 10h at Rectorate building of University of Montenegro, in-venue and online.
